A new year. A gentle reminder of time ticking away. Yet there is only now.
A new year doesn’t always sparkle and shine, yet new year celebrations, surely it must be the fireworks around the world, almost always sparkle and shine. One can’t help but fills up with hope for better days. From one day to the other though, what kind of shift can happen? Other than giving up cookies and booze, and trying to get back in shape, we remain unchanged. So a new year is only a mark, it tells us when.
2020 is when my dad passed away, a pandemic happened, and we all stayed home. 2020 is when we didn’t hug but learned to be grateful for one another more than ever. When our mortality, fragility, forgetfulness, and idiotic and suspicious nature was most apparent. It is a time future generations will look back appalled… like dark ages….
Will 2021 be different? We can only hope it is marked by events that highlight our better nature; our generosity, our courage, our care, our intelligence, and our love.
May the new year bring happiness, prosperity, and joy to you and everyone around you!
